The desktop version of Kanbana can be a bit tricky to setup the first time but from there everything should. Here is a guide that has to be followed very carefully

Ensure that you are running the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight https://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
    Open Safari and goto http://app.kanbana.com
Follow this video guide that explains how to enable Silverlight: https://youtu.be/l9vn4UKyDzg
    Everything should work from here

Thanks for the idea. If much of your daily planning is centered around specific dates then may take a look at Frank Degenaar's approach to a kanban calendar system using kanbana.

When you create an account the only thing we store in the Kanbana cloud is your account email, all other data is only stored on your own device. We store the account email in order to reserve if you later on buys 'Kanbana Anywhere' so that you can synchronize data between devices and the web.

But today this model has a problem when you reinstall Kanbana completely. When you sign in we think that you are trying to sign in from a different device and ask you to buy kanbana anywhere. This can also be the issue if you install Kanbana on a new device and do not want to or is not able to buy kanbana anywhere from your orignal device where your data is stored.

If you are experiencing this then contact support@kanbana.com and we will help you until we solve this issue.

I've taken a look at it again on the iOS platform. But it still requires quite a lot of custom ization to enable this. But I agree that it would be nice so I haven't given up on it.

AdminJonas Larsen (Admin, Kanbana - improve your workflow) commented  ·

This would be a nice feature and applies to both Silverlight, WP7 and iPad. Unfortunately the standard components for displaying text doesn't support interpretations of hyperlinks and emails. If anyone knows an easy way on either of these platforms please let me know.

Thank you for the idea. I use a combination of the priority and colors to visualize importance. I prioritize my tasks within every stage and if something urgent happens i highlight it with a red color.

Thank you for your explanation. As an experiment you could try to add maybe 5 stages for every 20 percent progress just to narrow it down.

AdminJonas Larsen (Admin, Kanbana - improve your workflow) commented  ·

Thank you very much for the idea. Why do need to track progress on a single task in percentage?

It is very important that Kanbana gives you the sense of progress because it is one of the key motivators in our daily lives. What I try to do is to stretch out my workflow so that I can move my tasks one step to the right often enough to get the feeling of progress.
If your activities tend to build up in a single stage then try to analyze every single task. what is the exact state of the task. Maybe more of your tasks is in a certain state that isn't part of your workflow. Then add the new stage and see if it doesn't bring back the felling of progress.

Sometimes I add stages even if it is just for a couple of days. Then I delete them again if the nature of my current activities changes.

I've commented on a similar idea for the desktop version https://kanbana.uservoice.com/forums/103103-general/suggestions/2266734-tabbed-boards

I know that pomodoro estimates isn't the same as a story estimates but here is my comment on estimates https://kanbana.uservoice.com/forums/103103-general/suggestions/2332600-add-story-estimates

If you are using the pomodoro technique strictly together with kanbana I know that you are missing some features. I nomally use a pomodoro timer together with kanbana but if I'm in a period where distractions are taking over I'm using the pomodoro technique more strictly with the notation technique and so on. In this case my kanbana board visualize a less detailed version of the tasks that I'm braking down into pomodoros using pen and paper.

But maybe there could be some kind of pomodoro technique add on for those who are using pomodoro.

Kanbana is a personal task board and should first of all visualize your own goals and your own workflow to accomplish these goals. It is not intended to be a collaboration tool, but I definitely think some sort of social aspect or sharing would be great - I just haven't come up with a good idea how to do it yet.

Maybe somebody have a good idea on how to do this?
A related idea can be found here: https://kanbana.uservoice.com/forums/103103-general/suggestions/2332634-support-distributed-usage

Actually there is a warning today but maybe it isn't clear enough. When you cross your own limit the limit counter changes from black to red. But doesn't keep you from adding more tasks to the stage.

I think it is a good idea to integrate with reminders if it is possible. I guess that you think in a way where you create a kanbana task and add a reminder date to it. And then a reminder is automatically added to the reminder app?

Do you know any other app who does that? I've been searching a little bit and can only find a app who reads the reminders already created in the reminders app.

I've never used the reminders app my self but I have thought of the ability to create a reminder using Kanbana that will be shown as a notification in the notification menu that you can pull from the top of the iPad.

One of the main purposes of using Kanbana is to gain clarity of your life. In order to gain clarity things has to be visible to you. A nice thing about the human brain is that it is very good at comprehending lots of data at a glimpse if it is represented visual to you. If you have the need to start hiding things it is often a sign of having to much going on in your life.
Therefore this is one of the suggestions that I don't feel convinced is a good idea because it has a tradeoff that is against the purpose of Kanbana. Instead of collapsing things I'll suggest that you try to go through your huge backlog and try to categorize them with colors and maybe moved them into seperate stages in order to gain clarity of your huge backlog. Then you should be able to find out what to do and even harder what not to do.

Steffen: splitting a stage vertically is a better idea because it doesn't suffer from the safe tradeoff, but maybe it should go into another suggestion.

Why do you need to print the todos in the future? How do you use the print out? I've never had the need myself.

I'm a huge fan of reflection because that's the state of my mind where I make changes to the better. I've all ways had a stage just before "Done" saying something like "Reflection" "Evaluate Value" or something like that where I place tasks that for my part is done. But I keep them hanging and return to them to reflect upon If they actually resulted in some kind of value.

So the simple solution is to create a stage before done called "this weeks reflections" of "Completed this week" and then go through these at the end of every week. It should solve your need and at the same time visualize your actual workflow.

That said It doesn't tell the whole story on what you've been working on the last week because you probably still got work in progress. Every morning I use my Kanbana board at a daily standup meeting together with my team and try to use it to tell what I did yesterday. This is no allways easy because I don't keep track on what i did yesterday but try to focus on the flow of the whole.
But I've though of making a feature that could show the board activity within a periode to cover my need on the daily standup. Or I could just create a stage called "did yesterday"

Why do other who have voted for this feature need to browse their history?
